While both Sound! and Revue Starlight both center around different subjects, musical and theatrical performances, they each resonate similar energy to become the top star that outshines peers and opponents. I find the main characters Reina and Kumiko to resemble notable traits with Hikari and Karen. Apart from a visual resemblance in the two pairs, Hikari's promise to Karen about rising to become to top star alongside her best friend is something Karen holds close and never forgets as she storms her way to become the best, much like Kumiko and Reina's passion. Hibike! Euphonium and Revue Starlight may have pretty different premises, but they both actually seem to be more alike than they are different. They both have great music, wonderfully animated and beautiful scenes, and revolve around a semi-large cast of mostly female characters all working towards a tangible goal. Relationship between two main character. but they have same dream and keep promise to reach that. in hibike case the dream is national competition and in starlight case is to be top star in same stage. Appearance of Reina and Hikari made Kumiko and Karen realize their dream and want to improve or be better.

Although both revolve around various concepts (musical in "Sound! Euphonium" while theatrical in "Revue Starlight"), they are, however, similar nonetheless as the two reflect the same premise about a young girl wanting to become a star. For me, the character dynamics are the same; Karen from "Revue Starlight" is essentially Kumiko from "Sound! Euphonium" while "Hikari" from "Revue Starlight" is basically "Reina" from "Sound! Euphonium." To simply put, it focuses on the relationship between a cheerful type (deredere) and a cold type (kuudere). With all that said, if you enjoyed either, then I am sure you will love the latter too!
