Both anime have very similar plot elements involving a strong vampire as the main protagonist (Alucard/Father Abel) that kills other vampires and a female heroine (Seras/Esther) that happened to be entangled into this huge conflict. Other elements include royalty (monarch) , priests and nuns, secret organisations, etc.

Vampires! Doh~! Both anime's are about a organization that gets rid of vampires. The main character works for this organization and is a vampire himself, so to speak. Even though these main characters look very alike they are also very different. Their personality is not the same at all. Abel (Trinity Blood) is a kindhearted priest while Alucard (Hellsing) is more like this fierce vampire hunter, seeking a good fight. Alucard fights with ferocity and often extreme cruelty, rarely intending to kill until his target has been disabled and humiliated. Each series is dark, dramatic, and based off the premise of a vampire with extreme abilities fighting for humans against its own kind. Though plot similaries more or less stop there and beyond the concept of super-vampire predator the main characters are nothing alike.
Essentially they are enough alike to sparkinterest, but not rubber stamp copies of eachother . . . which is good.
