Both animes are about wars, both of them have the fate of the humanity at stake, in both of them the main heroes are forced to obey to the HQ consisting entirely of sketchy swindlers whose objective is very different from what they declare publicly, and, finally, both animes touch upon the topic of mutual trust among the comrades for the sake of amplifying the squad's efficiency and increasing the chances to survive in a bloodshed.
Both belong to the Post Apocalyptic genre and feature the catastrophic incidents happening due to the invasion of non-human creatures i.e Mecha Robots (86) & Vampires (Owari no Seraph)
The protagonist suffers the most in both the animes also he got some intimite friends in need always ready to help in any consequences. I would recommend to give it a try for someone who has a liking in this particular genre
