Actually this anime was the first that came to my mind as I was reflecting on it after the final episode. While both seem dissimilar at first, with different leads, plots and types of stories, both ended up being highly emotional. That is the main similarity. One goes away extremely satisfied, yet feeling an emptiness in the gut that would be familiar to those who watch anime of a similar genre.
