Both anime are episodic by nature (for the most part), they are about individuals who commit murder at the request of others. They do not kill for the sake of any ideology but rather because of a lack of an ideology, ruthlessly carrying out their assignments with machine like indifference. Above all else they do not discriminate, taking no sides and having no allegiances because they themselves do not choose their targets.
