Both:
- Dealing with life after death
- Quite complicated with a ambiguous story
- The mystery is omnipresent
- The music has a very important place (OST are just beautiful)
- The graphics are quite the same even if it's better and Darker for Jigoku S.
Differences:
- Both deal with every day life but in different ways: GH main characters are ordinary people (in a way) while JS’s are fantastic creatures
- At the beginning JS’s episodes aren’t linked whereas GH have a story from the start.
- The life after death is different and JS is more violent
- GH deals with psychic problems and medicine. JH does it too, in a round about way
