Both are styled in a similar fashion. Each has a individual story that lasts 1-2 episodes that is ultimately, albeit slowly, making up a larger story. Detective Conan is a crime solver who puts bad guys away behind bars. Jigoku Shoujo is a crime solver who sends criminals to hell. (Although the people she sends away aren’t always criminals it does turn out this way a lot)
