Talented but standoffish guy (calligrapher in one, writer in the other) living alone learning to get along with people and finally making friends, if not more.

A bit similar the main characters and the same feeling while watching. A very warm feeling when watching in both cases. No fanservice, no traps, no useless drama or anything like that. Good comedy and a great piece of slice of life anime both.
After debating the choices awhile, I found Barakamon to be a better recommendation for My Roommate is A Cat than Chi's Sweet Home.
The 2 protagonists are surprisingly comparable. Both 23 years old, a calligrapher and writer respectively, they share very similar personalities as well as character design! Reclusive workaholics with poor people skills (particularly the latter who's more melancholy due to recent circumstances) both of them give and take offence quite readily. This is where both anime introduce the small, innocent, and adorable who slowly humanise the 2 young men, helping them connect with others and find simple pleasures in life.

they have the same vibe. we have a dude who needs help and has a lot of problems... so someone not expected comes to help, and it's amazing to see them together. in dooukyoin there's a kitten, and in barakamon, a little girl (which there's not much difference dfgdfhfgj) and in the journey of these two, more people appear to complete the path of our protagonist and is touching and cute and funny and beautiful and.. /sobs/
Both male lead is talented and socially awkward, until they face someone new who keep making them annoyed but also helping them to find happiness at the same time.
Shut in artists learn to open up with help from children/cat. Mood is similar, these anime aren`t overly dramatic, but you can see even little things can have big meaning for those who feel strongly about those involved. Watching these is a great way to get you up from gloom and make you feel better by the power of niceness.

-Both have a protagonist apart from society with curiously the same character design and suddenly a partner appears at all annoying
Both anime are just so heartwarming and relaxing. Watching these will ease your heart and absorbs you to their innocent world. These two are my most effective chill pill.

-The protagonist is a man who has a hobby of writing/calligraphing, and he takes care or spends time with a cat/child as well.
-They both explore themes of friendship and family.
-Comedy is interspersed occasionally, and these moments occur at certain scenarios.
-Short amount of episodes.
-Heartwarming stories, and slice of life.
If you’re looking for anime that are wholesome and light-hearted, then these are subtle options plus there’s a lot of character depth in both shows.
