Rolling☆Girls

Rolling Girls is like a less substantive FLCL. Particularly when it comes to the main characters' role in the story, FLCL has a lot more going for it. Where they are similar are the over the top, super enjoyable fight scenes. Though FLCL is more crazy and Rolling Girls is more artsy, they both want those fight scenes to be a lot of fun to watch. And they are.
Both shows are set in an alternative version of Japan and have girls riding motorized bikes. Both shows have over-the-top animation and crazy situations. The color palettes are similar and reflective of its nature. Both shows are set in places where there is conflict.

In both form and content this is the closest thing I've ever seen to FLCL since watching it 10 years ago.
This anime is of course lighter and more girly (and longer), but it captures the bursting energy of youth with catchy rock songs, gorgeous art and animation, and an original alternate-reality setting.
One difference is Rolling Girls focuses more on travel, but as a trade-off it also has way more characters than FLCL.
