Both have rock music, and they tell about epic scale scifi stuff that happen mostly in the background, focusing mainly on the main characters and their lives. They both also have humor, though very different styles.
Both of them tell a story about a guy (with different ages) who live in a boring city in which actually nothing happen. But when they run into an alien woman, their life completely change.
Crazy Rock music is a fine aspect of both shows and the guitar is the main weapon against enemy aliens!

both are sci fi themed stories that can easily be completed in a day and rock music having a particular effect on its story.
