Elfen Lied literally feels like Mars of Destruction in terms of unintentionally comical violence, lolis dying, and the subject of shock utterly failing to connect its viewer to the material. If you enjoyed Elfen Lied and want something so bad it’s good but in a condensed, quick viewing then watch Mars of Destruction. If you enjoyed or couldn’t get into Mars of Destruction and want something with more material and arguably more interesting then consider Elfen Lied. Either way I cannot help but think these shows are the same.

People's heads get blown off. Elfen Lied is noticeably much better at animating this compared to the generally disliked Mars of Destruction. In fact, Elfen Lied is better in every concept. Both anime also have a 'beta' male MC.
