The setting is almost the same, but with another story.
That's probably because they are both from the same mangaka.
However, both include dark atmosphere, splatter and mystery, so, if you are into it you should watch it.
Same feeling when watching and kinda same idea. Basically girls with superpowers, traumas, organizations and a mc boy who's tied to the mc girl in a way or another because of their pasts.

-Both have a main protagonist who whants to help hunted girls
- both are from the same writer
- Gore is common in both
- sometimes ecchi
These two series deals with human experiments and supernatural powers and a male protagonist who helps the girls from being hunted by some laboratory agents. they are both gore and a has mild nudity. they have the same author so they are really much alike. So if you like gokukoku no brynhildr you will like this too.
Same creator, both of these give off the same vibe, with superpowers, both of the main characters have been through trauma that has to do with the female protagonist. If you enjoyed one of them you'll enjoy the other :)
A dude try to hide girls he met in the past from a powerful cruel organization. Elfen Lied is way more gore, but, when GnB will be in blu-ray, it will have some bloody scene too. GnB is in my opinion more diversified, though, the humor can be anti-climatic. They both have some excellent mystery aspect and deep universe. Really dark atmosphere.

-Both have gore elements
-Both stories revolve around a male MC that is surrounded by females with supernatural powers
-In both stories the girls with the supernatural powers are being chased down by scientists from a laboratory
-The male MC is trying to help out and save the girls with supernatural powers hide from the scientists
In both, main character encounters supernatural female(s) who are in danger of getting killed and he decides to help them. Both are ecchi and gory, but have few comedy moments.
It is the author and the plot seems, traumatized characters, secret organizations experienced with girls to give him powers, one of these girls flees and is pursued by others to bring it back.

They're both psychological thrillers written by the same person. They're both about girls who have been used as human experiments. These girls have super powers. The male mc tries to hide them from the evil organization they came from. Both are creepy and have lots of gore and ecchi. Both are great.
Where this show is great is the feelings it can evoke, they are both brutal and honest and I think that's something everyone should experience at least once in their life. Understanding that humans are the biggest monsters, the cruelest. Where this show improves upon it's predecessor is the art and the characters, voice acting seems better too. Overall it is a well-rounded anime I thoroughly recommend to those who enjoyed Elfen Lied.
Here are some things they share in common:
- They are written by the same person
- They are about girls with powers
- They both include a male lead who does not have powers
- Graphic

They both have a similar story. Girls with powers escape from a lab, they live with the male lead and the girls are hunted down by the lab. Both anime are very gory.

Both anime's are pyschological thrillers that are written by the same person (Lynn Okamoto). Both animes have girls with special powers. Both anime's have lots of gore and horror scenes. My personal opinion on the two is that they are similar because of the main male lead and they both have very comedic romance scenes.

Brynhildr features a similarly gritty tone and dark atmosphere with characters having escaped lab experimentation, sporting special abilities, and becoming pursued by others sent by said lab to kill them.
Although the former is a bit more serious in tone, it can be quite grizzly at times and there's no shortage of supernatural elements. This series will probably not shock you as much, but is eerily similar in many ways.
Also, it's relativity short length makes for an ideal dark/supernatural afternoon binge-watch!

Produced by the same people who made Elfen Lied, Gokukoku no Brynhildr features girls with individual powers who have escaped from a research lab. The main concepts are similar but differ more as you go from there. Gokukoku no Brynhildr is also less ecchi and gory, so if you're someone who felt a little too overwhelmed or turned off by that in Elfen Lied, maybe this will be more enjoyable for you.

Both of the series, Elfen Lied (EL) and Gokukoku no Brynhildr (GnB) are written by Lynn Okamoto.
If you're fascinated by one of these two, there's a high chance that you'll be interested in the other one too. Gore is the main theme of both series, but romance has also been bound up with these two. You will definitely get the same vibe when watching both of the series.
Elfen Lied is a masterpiece that is heavily implied by high-class issues while lifting up the fantasy theme. Gokukoku no Brynhildr follows in the same footsteps but focuses more on the depth of the science subject.
Both of these series are written by the same person so some themes carried over. There is a boy surrounded by about four girls who have something to do with supernatural powers. The girls with powers are being hunted down by scientists who they ran away from and are trying to survive while living with the boy. Both shows are worth the watch if you have the time.
-They are both written by Lynn Okamoto
-They are both about girls and powers
-They are both violent and gory
Elfen Lied has a better story while Gokukiku has a betther characters
Similarities:
+ Both are written by the same Mangaka
+ Both have girls that have escaped from Laboratories
+ The girls are sheltered by a guy
+ The girls have Super powers
+ A little romance
+ A spoiler I can't mention here
Differences:
- Brynhildr is a crappy version of Elfen Lied
- Brynhildr has too much fan service
- Elfen Lied is a much more serious show
These two shows are as similar as are two same things of different colors.
If you got a kick out of one of Lynn Okamoto's wonderfully trashy stories, you'll probably enjoy the other. They're similar levels of unintentional comedy, and both Brynhildr and Elfen Lied share a lot of similar aspects/themes. Both also have heavy amounts of nudity and gore.
I find Brynhildr a little more likeable personally, as there's no pointless incest subplot and it's able to sell the main character and his relationships a tad better than Elfen Lied.
Both series contrast moe slice of life moments with genuine terror. Both series display a deep mistrust of science.
When you think of a dark and sad past someone who has been forced to struggle their entire life from childhood the abuse a psyche can take is only so much. The dissection and removal of humanity from a character in which all they know is imprisonment and slavery that is what you see with the protagonists. Through all their struggles they push to live because that's all any person can really hope for after so much has been taken away the very essence of simple things such as affection or even love seem enough to give your life meaning. The savagery of humanity towards
