Same author, same studio. Both animes focus on various characters from the underworld -- criminals, violent gangs and misfits -- with splashes of the occult and the supernatural but set in a thoroughly modern society not unlike ours. While Baccano! had immortals and mysterious elixirs propelling the story along, Durarara! has a dullahan, which according to Irish myths, is a headless rider. Like Baccano!, Durarara! is told by an all-seeing narrator, populated by a large cast, and initially seems very scattered in terms of its storyline but should begin to make sense the more episodes you see.

Both shows are adapted from novels that are by the same author, Narita Ryohgo. Not to mention that the same animation studio and team worked on both adaptations. I'm almost certain that if you enjoyed Baccano for the obvious reasons, then you'll love this.

Both from the same author and director - both masterpieces! Both have many small stories which come together into one. In Baccano! most of the characters meet on a train called the Flying Pussyfoot and in Durarara!! the characters all meet in the city of Ikebukuro. Baccano! is all centered in the USA in the 1930's with some of the plot taking place in the past while Durarara!! mostly takes place in modern day Japan. Both series have extremely interesting characters and story. Both series have a strong element of mystery in them too and they both evolve in real life surroundings while they both   read more

Both emphasize great characters and the satisfaction of the viewer in one happens to these characters. Both also tell their stories in a highly original way, revealing plot points later on and in almost random places. Heavy use of foreshadowing and guessing games is present as well. But above all, both are incredibly enjoyable in a Tarantino-esque fashion, and leave you wanting much, much more.

Seeing as both are made by the same company, the characters are easy to love and get attached to. Both story lines are being told by different characters of the series, giving you different points of views; which makes it soo much more interesting. Of course each character has their own plans for each other, but they all get invovled with each other's situations (as do most animes), the art style is amazing. Each character is (i think) pretty well-rounded, some of them remind me of other characters that i've seen based on there actions and personalites. I would defintly recommend this series!!!

Also, both of the anime has great character illustration and a good story plot, so watching either of these two is definitely not a waste of time.

They each have various storylines following different characters, which all end up overlapping. They also both include similar characters elements such as the use of gangs, information brokers and supernatural beings - the Black Rider in Durarara and the homonculi in Baccano. Baccano has more action and gore whereas I'd say Durarara has more character depth and comedy. There's also a fun little crossover appeal. As Durarara!! is much more known, Hence this would be the logical thing to do, even though Baccano was written first. -Large casts with lots of personality -Nice plot, though seems kind of disconnected. It'll come to you in the end. And you'll like it ;) - No real villain (arguably) - In many POV's. - Makes you feel smart when you get it at the end. You like that don't you. - Heck, written by same author (light novel)

First, both have the same author. So you can see the similarities of the art. The way the story goes on is similar to each other too. Especially when it cuts from an idea to another. Characters in these two animes are very connected to each other. And how fate made them encounter each other is just amazing. You know? Coincidence? I like types of stories where coincidence exists. And, well, both have a good ending.

Obviously there are similarities due to the directing and storytelling, staff, studio, etc. But the shows do truly feel like they belong in the same universe (they kind of are). An eccentric cast of characters, unconventional story-telling, and fleshed out worlds that feel truly lived in. They also have very good though very different soundtracks, which really capture the vibe they are going for.

These two share the same DNA in a sense that they are adapted light novels by the same writer, have same director, and are made by the same production house. Both Durarara and Baccano have a similar way to explain the argument. Baccano's great and if you like Durarara you'll enjoy it. There're many interesting and complex personages who have their own story but this story's related with the others.

all the characters are the main characters. every characters have their own stories but they are related to eachother.

They are both adapted from novels of the same person -Narita Ryohgo- and have a huge cast of many interesting characters. They also share a similar storytelling and art style.

Both have a lot of different characters with no specific main one, a lot going on at once, time changes very often. Similar animation (Same studio and both adapted from the same Author) and there are Baccano Easter eggs in Durarara, the biggest being Isaac and Miria. Also both the Dubs are worth watching.

1) Same author: Narita Ryohgo 2) Similar character design 3) Gangs are a very important part of the story 4) Different character/stories that end up connected 5) Charismatic characters 6) The OST also has a mafia vibe 7) Fantasy elements/characters in real world

Durarara has the same style as Baccano. You have to stay focused to follow the plot and there are many characters who are important to the plot. It is also about mafias or gangs. If you liked the plot and plottwists of Baccano you will enjoy Durarara.

Both Baccano! and Durarara!! were made by the same studio, director and are both originally by the same LN author. Both shows feature a zany ensemble cast with multiple, seemingly divergent plot lines that converge and coalesce in really interesting ways. Both shows are also quite funny. If you liked one you'll like the other.

Both anime almost similar with each other. Got a gang fight, similar animation, and got many respective main characters

Durarara!! was written and created by the exact same person who made Baccano!, and the same animation studio, Brain's Base, also happened to have animated both series as well. Both series are unique in that each of the characters are perfectly used, and they also happen to have supernatural elements added into the plot. Durarara!! takes place in a large, huge city in modern- day Tokyo while Baccano! is set in Chicago during the 1930's. Each series might have characters with different personalities, but they are all similar in many ways.

Similar style of story telling. involvement of the supernatural baccano easter eggs and cameos in durarara

Same author, same universe (but different time period and location), similarly focused on intersecting plots of an ensemble cast.

A very unique way of storytelling, where little pieces are revealed bit by bit and in the end all fit together perfectly. Very similar characters as well, the reason being that they were both done by the same author, even animated by the same studio and directed by the same director.

They both take place in the city, they both have plots that are sure to hook you in, they both have gangs of some sort.

They are made by the same author and animated by the same studio. Both have large ensemble casts. Baccano! and Durarara!! may be confusing at first due to both series having non-linear storylines, but it clears up towards the end. In addition, therr are also supernatural elements (the dullahan in durarara, immortality and elixirs in baccano). Baccano is set in 20th century America, whereas durarara is set in modern Japan.

Both by the same author. Similar chaotic story telling. Colourful characters, fantastic soundtrack. Both involving crime and the supernatural.

1. Same universe. 2. Plot is kinda same; Unrelated events happens with different characters. And then the events will start to connect. 3. Have many main characters rather than one. etc.
report Recommended by DoomSlayer0
Similar in art and style, with mystery feel and great characters that all have different stories that intertwine with one another. Plus a supernatural element that both series share. But unlike Durarara!!, Baccano only has one season containing 13 episodes and a couple OVAs. Highly recommend, and easy to binge watch.

Same narrative style, both have charismatic and bizarre characters and are both made by the same person.

Similar in how they have disjointed storylines that come together to form one cohesive narrative.

Baccano and Durarara are made by the same author so they both have similar eccentric characters, stories that involve gangs and tell their stories with different character perspectives. The main difference between the 2 show are while Baccano takes place in the 1930s Durarara takes place in modern day.

Wrote by the same author makes Baccano and Durarara!! has a similar vibes. What makes both anime great is the dynamics between the characters. Both Durarara!! and Baccano has a tons of unique main characters that makes the story feel bigger and more alive, and also the one that makes both anime iconic in their own way. The main focus of both the series is dealing with supernatural problems that included crime around the city with an action scene and lots of dynamic dialogue and characters development. These two master works are not only made by the same author, but they were also adapted by the same studio. Baccano! and Durarara!! are both shows about people from the underworld as you would call it. Individuals fighting for a certain object, gang wars, murders and other similar things are common in those tow anime. Both also have a very particular style of story telling, having multiple plots at the same time for example. And last but not least, the way of handling characters, and the characters themselves, are very similar.

These two are SO similar in the overall structure (as in, you follow multiple characters and their lives somehow get tangled together). Both have supernatural elements, gangs, etc. If u enjoyed one of these ur probs gonna enjoy the other.
report Recommended by meme_puika
durarara but make it 1930s same style of comedy and non-linear story telling for both shows (not surprising since they were created by the same studios). some unexplainable supernatural elements but that keeps it spicy i guess
report Recommended by hlfmoondwn
All recommend those two where they can be considered as sequel-prequel . Baccano! is just a story of a specific historical incident of 1930 only about 15 episodes and durarara!! shows some usual incidents of ikabukuro city of parent time about 40 episodes.

They're both from the same author's novels, two series full of events that keep the story dynamic and with lots of surprises. There are also so many characters, each of them is unique and well characterized, always with a purpose for the development of the plot. They are two bizarre series that make you laugh, cry and sometimes blow your mind off.

Both are from same author, same studio. Both focus on various characters from the underworld i.e criminals, violent gangs and misfits. Both are told by an all-seeing narrator, populated by a large cast, and initially seems very scattered in terms of its storyline but they all begin to make sense with more episodes progress. Baccano is all centered in the USA in the 1930's with some of the plots taking place in the past while Durarara mostly takes place in modern day Japan centered around Ikebukuro.

Baccano, in my opinion is an amazing pick for those who are fans of durarara, i always kinda got the same vibe. I think baccano is kinda underrated, which is kinda sad because it frikkin bops. Both have similar music, with baccano having a bit of a more jazzy feeling, and durarara being more fast paced. I really recommend baccano for Crime/mystery fans, Give it a shot! it aint very long either.

They're both made by the same author and same studio. They even share a universe and some characters from Baccano appear in Durarara as well. Both are a little strange and a lot of people seem to be up to something. Both have that same chaotic feel to them, and both also have jazz music in the soundtrack.

Made by the same person, I like Baccano better but they're both good. If you have seen Durarara and liked it I think you'll like Baccano. I recommend watching the dub for both, especially Baccano. They do accents and everything. There is also a lot of Baccano references in Durarara.

Both are authored by the same person; Narita, Ryohgo. They have very similar styles with their narratives, skipping around in time, though DRRR!! doesn't do it as much as Baccano! Both have a wide array of lovable and charming characters. The two series take place in the same universe, therefore there are a lot of Easter eggs spread throughout DRRR!! relating to Baccano! As well, both of them have supernatural elements.

Both include so much with affiliated parties, gangs, thieves, and great duo’s of certain characters. Such series, have much to do with being high end criminals with great casting and great plots.

The storytelling are similar with the plot, characters focus, the vibes and apparently, the author are the same.

Both are created by the same writers and animation studio and follows a ensemble cast of characters in there own self contained arc around set period setting (1930s New York and Modern Japan) while also having supernatural stuff and varies of distinct and strange character along with it.

If you love the work of Ryohgo Narita or anime/manga with a mixture of fantasy and realistic elements, as well as interestingly interwoven characters and plot lines then I highly recommend you check out Baccano! Aside from the shared author i quickly became smitten by the setting in Chicago roughly around the early 1930s, the mafia/cast conflict/investigation involving an elixir that grants immortality and the breath taking sakuga throughout the anime. A fair warning Baccano is very difficult to find but i promise you that in any form you consume it in via light novel or anime it is well worth the hassel!
