Aside from both being romances, both of these stories are also about grief. Each piece explores loss--loss of innocence, loss of joy--as experienced by teenagers who are still growing up and discovering what they want out of life. Grief can make us lose our ability to express ourselves... and each of these stories give hope that it can be found again. But like, each story isn't just sadness and sorrow--They have comedic moments, too, and it's all really funny.
