The beginning. The start to what is the greatest journey of real life I have seen in anime, our protagonists, of varied backgrounds, one troubled, the other independent, come across a fateful encounter that would be the very cause of life-changing events.
Clannad and FB dive into what we choose to do in others lives and where we decide to play ourselves in that stand. With both taking our unconventional protagonists on a trip to the different lives people live and the ongoing problems that occur with those close yet far in a school world.

Both shows are slice of life and a school setting. Both shows also have possibly the most kind heroine's in all of anime. Both shows also have an interesting lore being major in Fruits Basket and Minor in Clannad. They also have an abundance of wholesome moments and sad moments.

Romance! Character Development! A lot of crying!
These series are built on the idea of trying to make the world a better place for others and throughout this a lot of crying would be had by the watcher. Both Tomoya and Tohru Honda, make sacrifices and experience significant hardships throughout the series in order to try and other peoples lives better.
