Both are harems written with an almost spiteful idea towards the concept, which makes for some real solid fun. Both mains subvert the trope of 'good guy normie' by being absolute jackasses, while girls (and boys in Ranma's case) just as manipulative fawn over them for the most insignificant of reasons, and as such their harems grow to a comical degree. The Baseball Game and Bench-kun churn out freaks at a pace even exceeding the Drowned Springs in Ranma. You could even compare the duality of Joro to Ranma's, though they take on a different form.
