In both shows, you can find:
- A girl with red hair as lead character, both of whom are very attractive to look at (though with almost entirely opposite builds – Chiyo is small in both regular size and boob size, while Kobeni is taller and quite well-endowed)
- A somewhat atypical, even unusual teenage romance (between either the leads or the side characters), the extent of which becomes more clear as the show progresses
- A somewhat stoic, even dense male lead (which is mostly played for comedy in either show)
- Interesting, funny, even quirky side characters.

Similar humor, both cutesy and all that jazz
Small amounts of romance, but Gekkan Shoujo's romance is more of a sub-sub plot and pretty much used for comedic value only.
Both have greats OP and ED and general music and animation.
Both are probably the best of their genre from their respected seasons.
