Stories about artificial girlfriends aren't rare, and so both anime are examples of such. "Video Girl Ai" has a clear romance and conclusion, and "Boku no Marie (My Dear Marie)" has only hints of romance and no real conclusion.
While both have really good animation, characters and comedy moments, "Video Girl Ai" is the better one of these two. If you liked one, you will most likely like the other.
