Both series start somewhat generic and very respectful to tropes of the genre, but get progressively more and more unhinged, concluding in a very explosive finale that is basically unrecognisable from their first episodes. While not as great as TTGL, Back Arrow has its own identity and doesn't simply follow in the footsteps of its legendary predecessor.

Both are Super Robot anime written by Kazuki Nakashima featuring quirky characters (who decide to break taboos keeping people oppressed) and shocking plotwists.
