an anime can't get any more similar than this. is what I thought when I watched the first episode of hanayome. adding past events as a part of a harem story can't get any spicier than nisekoi and hanayome. in the end we'll (hopefully) get an answer to whom the MC ended up with, and who is the girl of his past.

both are rom com waifu wars, with the setup that the main character has a connection to one of the girls in the past (although we do not know who said girl is)

They have : -One Boy -Few Girls -Romance -Comedy -Tsundere -Dandere -Kuudere -Yandere -Deredere + i had same feelings while watching this compared to Nisekoi

They are both teen harem rom-coms. In both, the main-character makes a promise with a misterious girl in the past with whom he meets again in the present under strange circumstances, leading them to a connection. From there other girls appear, all with very different personalities, who will fight for the love of the main-character. In both shows, the mystery of knowing who is the girl of the promise develop the plot bringing a lot of clichéd but highly entertaining situations.

-Both put forth a similar tone in both comedic and dramatic moments, giving the same overall feel -Both foreshadow the protagonist's eventual betrothment to one of the female characters in the story -Both see the protagonist with a first love they cannot remember that is also part of their harem -Both have a similar bright color palette and similar character design

Considering you've read all the other recommendations regarding the similarities between the two, I only want to add just a few words to make sure you won't regret the path you're about to take. It's true that 5-toubun no Hanayome and Nisekoi look very similar at the first glance, and are bounded together by the same type of genres, BUT their individual story and ways to progress it separates them worlds apart. Do not expect to find a "sister" anime going from Nisekoi to 5-toubun no Hanayome or vice versa. If you want to enjoy them both at their full extent, be sure to have no expectations of   read more

Both stories center around a harem-school style comedy, and share the idea that they have met in the past they just don't remember who it was.

Both are cute romantic story with several girls in love with the hero

Non-ecchi harem romances about a boy who met a girl in the past and made a certain promise to be together forever. Then many girls flock into them after many funny and crazy situation, who also check the boxes of the girl of the past. The big difference is that the Nisekoi girls are from everywhere, the Hanayome girls are quintuplets and are very close to each other. While the characters are not similar at all, you can make the case for Chitoge Kirisaki (Nisekoi) and Nino Nakano (Hanayome) for being the classical tsunderes.

if you want another good harem anime

both are a pretty good harem rom-com, but in my opinion, Gotoubun is better and it will have a closed-end on the anime, different from Nisekoi, where you need to read the manga to see the final.

Both are harem anime, with lots of similar tropes, and very cute girls doing cute things.

Did u like harem genre with childhood concept? If u say yes, u can watch 'em. They have simple story, but it's wholesome. Sometimes you can smile while you coincidentally watch unexpected kawaii scene from those girls in these anime.

Multiple relationships growth. The Quintessential Quintuplets and Nisekoi show what multiple relationships growing in a harem looks like. Both protagonists are made to spend time with their respective harem due to some benefit. With The Quintessential Quintuplets, Fuutarou is to teach the Nakano sisters, in that time, he grows relationships with the sister understanding each and all their motives along the way. In Nisekoi, Raku is forced into a fake relationship, though in this time, gathering many different girls along the way, he too grows relationships with them. Though they are both comedies, Nisekoi would make for a better laugh.

Harem which has a lot of potential where the MC has made a childhood promise to one of the girls. Like Nisekoi it's hard to decide the best girl and isn't a given as in most harem anime.

Looking for an all-out waifu war, long standing debates on who's the best girl, and the duo of both romance and comedy, then..... you are at the right place. As usual we have our high-school setting where the main guy will meet all of these girls, but yeah those interactions and circumstances around them will be completely different. You can expect a bit of modesty from Gotoubun whereas Nisekoi took them to a bit extreme, but in the end it all leads up to choosing that one girl our main guy would end up with.

Both animes introduce past events in the story that make everything spicier. They have many superficial similarities (similar personalities, past events) but they are two completely different stories and shows. One has a much more exaggerated comedy and focuses on the relationship between him and each one of them (Nisekoi). In Goutoubun, in addition to addressing the relationship between him and each of them, the relationship between the sisters is also addressed. It is also a more school-focused anime. Even though these two animes have the same genres and some similarities, I think it's important to mention that your experience with each of them can be completely different and   read more

Both are feel-good amazing shows of the harem archetype. I personally prefer QQ but you can't go wrong with these two. Must watch!

The tsundere personality is just so similar to Nino from Gotoubun no Hayanome. Also, similar art style with troublesome characters.

They feature a waifu war where the main character has a past relationship to one of the girls, but can't remember which one, and the one who's chosen by him will become his bride.

A Harem where the mc is surrounded by beautiful girls is what everyone wants. Right? No? Then after watching these, you would wish for it. Both of these animes have a similar and simple storyline where the mc met a girl in the past but doesn't remember her and the girl is one of his Harem members. The only difference is that there is a quintuplets harem in it. These animes are not the best but worth watching.
