-The character personalities are identical
-hidden natural talent and constant surprises from MC
-same premise in a more flashy way using skateboards rather than cars.
EP1 felt way too similar to initial d even with the "he won't make the corner" shtick
If you don't mind watching an older animation and want something like SK this is a must.
Both series' share similarities which involve a cool yet calm/collective "newbie" who is introduced to an illegal race type activity, yet is almost instantly the best at it due to prior knowledge in a related area. They both also consist of various challengers, with each one providing a unique obstacle to overcome

The first episode has a ton of similarities to the first episode of Initial D. A pseudo Inertia Drift, downhill racing at night, MC who is very similar. The only thing missing is the eurobeat.

- Both shows have an MC where they have hidden potential in the specific sport they play (Initial D, Racing / Sk∞, Skateboarding)
- MC that is a high schooler that works a part-time job and goes to amateur street races with a big crowd up in the mountains
- Nice first episode to get anyone that doesn't play the given sport, hooked
