White Album 2 and Kuzu no Honkai are both about exploring love triangles (or love webs), or perhaps more accurately, how deeply flawed high school students go about establishing romantic relationships with others. Both shows do it in a very artistic way, and really brings out the inner thoughts and feelings of the important characters. These shows have intense emotional outbursts and the mood is not always (in fact, almost never) happy-go-around.

Both are about love story, Kuzu no Honkai is more painful because the story deals with unrequited love and escapism. They both have the same overall tone of story, very sad and painful. But the difference is that Kuzu no Honkai starts quite sad but ends with a quite positive bittersweet ending, meanwhile White Album 2 starts quite light-hearted like a typical romance anime would, but as the story progresses, it keeps getting sadder and sadder (but quite spicy imo and that's why I love it). I wholeheartedly recommend both of these animes, but you need to have some mental capacity because they're quite painful   read more

Same director, similar shows about insecurities, and the unfairness of teenagers falling in love. While White Album is focused entirely on the main trio, Scum's Wish is a story that reflects on every single character in the show, and has something meaningful to say about every one of them. Both shows are inherently sad, unapologetic, and contain material intended for an older audience. However, both are very well written, led by the same director, and there are some vibes that ooze from both shows.

Both are romances with a serious and unusual atmosphere. Also having the same director.

Same director. Both delve into a more realistic side of romance. Highly recommend if you are bored with average shoujo romances

Tragedy of relationships. Had realistic elements and wasn't your "typical romance" anime

Same Director, Same emotional feel. The characters give off a feeling that makes you not be able to truly like them.

Not that happy but rather depressing

The first episode of Kuzo no Honkai passed the idea of a serious, complex romance. White Album 2 is a great romance that seems to have the same target audience in mind and is too directed by Andou Masaomi. So if you like a romance with minimal comedy and a good plot, look no further.

Same unapologetic painful approach to exploring teenage love

Both the series deals with flawed characters and deals with mature topics. While the ending of kuzu no honkai is great the ending of WA2 is terrible . Both have same feels , frustration deals with similar kind of mature themes

- Well-made and complex characters - More realistic stories - Betrayal in love relationship - Selfish protagonist who deceives people who have feelings for him/her - Indecisive characters who end up involving other people in their problems and using them - Love rivalry - More realistic approach to unfaithful love life - Animes that make you question human behavior - Undecided characters - Characters suffering - Characters who made bad decisions that grow more and more
