Both are pretty dark, serious, and dramatic for an anime (plotwise) made by Kyoani, although Kyoukai has more violence and fighting
Both have male and female protagonists who are always suffering and struggling because of their past actions.
Differences:
Kyoukai no Kanata is more supernatural, while Koe no Katachi is more of a slice of life.
