The female protagonist is a princess who, due to unfortunate circumstances, loses her kingdom and is forced to travel the world (or worlds, in Tsubasa's case) starting with just one companion, a man who protects her with utmost loyalty and has no trouble putting his life on the line for her safety. They gain other loyal companions/friends on their journey. The princess starts off very weak and defenseless, but has the strong will to shed away her ignorance and learn about the world and about fighting, too.

A princess who gets strong willed as the series goes on and a boy used in fighting swore to protect his princess. He, who go to great lengths even if his life is on the line just to protect her. The main characters are childhood friends too. Cool fighting scenes. There are funny and cute moments but there are times that you just have to be serious. These two are the best romance-fantasy-comedy-adventure anime for me.
