While both anime are very different from each other, there are some very close similarities between the two.
- Both shows feature the same concept: an MMORPG game using VR-technology.
- Each game's world takes place in medieval times where the players are free to do as they choose, as long as they physically can do it.
- Unlike other anime following the same concept, the NPCs in both anime are treated as human beings and don't respawn aftering dying while the players do respawn.
