This is absolute no brainer recommendation. If you watched Garden of Words and thought "man I wish this got a full series", this is the show for you. Both tackle age-gap romances and have beautiful visuals that feature a lot of rainy moods.

Both anime involve a love that goes against societal norms, and prominently features rain and weather as a visual metaphor for the characters' emotional states. They also take a more serious or melancholy approach.

This recommendation is a no-brainer. However, despite the 12 eps that were dedicated to After the Rain, I found that Garden or Words did a far superior (and realistic) job of handling the romantic undertones between a school student and an adult, a relationship that is undoubtedly looked down up by society and even the characters involved in both these shows.

I liked the way these two handled an age-gap romance. Rain is also mentioned a lot in both, and they have appealing visuals.

Both look at age gap relationships, but in a way that seems mature. They definitely give off a similar mystifying feeling, as well as youthful nostalgia. Kotonoha no Niwa is leaps better, but KoiAme can make you feel good things. The age gap is approached well in both, and isn't creepy or uncomfortable. The themes are also similar in exploring and finding careers and paths that fulfill the characters. I have a few qualms with KoiAme, mainly with the way that they achieve the path for our female minor MC, but is still treated with a relative amount of respect.

Rain and love about two people having an age gap. Them meeting and being friends in spite of rain, and then them having to form a romantic relationship despite their age. The setting is significantly similar so expect to feel the same vibes. If you have already watched either one, then I am sure you will like the latter too.

I already saw some refs for this but wtvr, maybe my input vs there’s is slightly different. Both are about the relationship between a high school student who is an avid worker and doesn’t care much about school, and their relationship with an adult.... What makes them even more similar is the aspect of rain: in both films, rain is what connects the characters. the type of relationship with the teenager and adult is slightly different in both, but one of the factors for that may be the length of each anime. GoW is 45 mins long vs AtR being 22 episodes. the relationships develop differently .. damn   read more

Both are too pretty and silent. Same age problem between characters. Both are based on rain.

Both "The Garden of Words" and "After the Rain" explore the themes of emotional connections and the courage to pursue forbidden love. While "The Garden of Words" focuses on the blossoming bond between two individuals finding solace in each other's presence, "After the Rain" delves into the complexities of age-gap relationships and the societal expectations that surround them. With their stunning visuals, nuanced characters, and heartfelt storytelling, these anime series offer thought-provoking narratives that explore the depths of human emotions and the resilience of the human spirit when it comes to matters of the heart.
