Extremely similar animes ... Both have the same main factors, which are: Stop the invasion of aliens; Protagonists "monster"; Difficulties with the robot, etc.
Only after watching both do you realize the extreme resemblance.I think Darling has more inspiration in RahXephon than in Evangelion.
Giant mechs piloted by young kids in love? Yep, it’s one of those series. Rahxephon plays a more into the Neon Genesis Evangelon wave while Darling takes a page from both that and Gurren Lagann. Darling isn’t as abstract in a lot of its themes, and has solid character development and growth.
