Messages. Although the two are far off from what they give storywise. They both have underlying messages to them which can be found the deeper you look into them.
Although you could say this for any two anime, I found these two more relatable because of the art style is given, Puparia looks like an embellished version of Ghibli's style, with both anime still having that elegant tribal type art.
In any case, looking over the two, ideas like the symbolism of human nature, and political ideologies like imperialism become visible with the required analysis. The type of anime that requires something along the lines of
