These are both supernatural stories about some sort of incident taking place and the main characters trying to prevent it (I won't specify due to spoilers). They are beautifully animated, have great soundtracks, and leave you with a similar sense of satisfaction by the end. The scenery is fantastic in both. If you are looking for a good supernatural romance, either of these will likely please you.
On the surface, these two might seem like they don't have much in common, but they have a similar core plot that aren't usually in other anime. At first, the Nagi no Asu kara starts very slow as a school slice of life with some fantasy elements, but then something unexpected happens and changes the entire dynamic, putting aside the shoujo parts and focusing on a unique plot to save a group of people. Both feature teenagers exploring the strange interconnections of love amidst supernatural occurrences in a tiny seaside town with strange rituals. Both have drop-dead gorgeous art and are created by some of the most respected storytellers in anime (Shinkai Makoto and Okada Mari). Both make clever use of an overused trope (body swap and timeskip).

2 - Grand striking plot that is emotionally heart-wrenching and thematically deep leaving behind emotional masochism
3 - A good script which the characters emotions and attitude is suited, voice actor embraces the role as well.
