Most Comedies fail because they consciously want to be funny or absurd or insane, as opposed to an honest spontaneity of characters merely being themselves -- a sort of anarchy of will. Fumoffu is a masterpiece of Comedy as Art, and no other uncompromising creativity can be seen elsewhere than in Honey and Clover. The punchlines, the exaggerations, the histrionics are all well-timed and natural.
