Same pretty art style, romantic content and some similiarities in characters.
Higashi no Eden is more deep, telling about changing the world, while Honey and Clover is lighter, more of a romance and focused mostly on relationships and pshychological aspects of love.
The characters are somehow similar and trust me you'll notice it. The main characters and the supporting are very similar, the difference is that Higashi no Eden is an action anime while Honey and Clover is drama, but they are both josei.
Although the story line in Eden much more different and complex, the characters are very similar. Shinobu and the main guy in Eden look almost exactly alike and have very similar carefree personalities. The main girl in Eden is like Ayumi and Hagumi combined! In the end, both shows are about ( Eden in some sense ) moving on in your life and finding your dream job.
