For recent series, the concept of a master holding a contract to other mediums never seems to fade. Fantasista Doll and Rozen Maiden (2013) are examples of this type of series as it revolves around a young protagonist getting involved with supernatural beings. They have a sort of contract with them while at the same time develop a relationship between them.
There is humor in both series while also crosses towards the line of emotions occasionally. The setting also takes place in a school life setting where there's comedy and drama.
