Both are set in an all-girls high school. The overall art style is similar, but Marimite's execution is much more polished and detailed. Marimite is similar to HSG in the eye candy aspect. The plot differs greatly. HSG is a light and happy comedy, with sexual sprinklings here and there. Marimite explores the themes of clandestine affairs and struggles with sexuality all behind the closed doors of a private Catholic girls school. It's definitely much more serious, but it doesn't go without its moments.
