Even though the series are set in different settings, they both involve worldwide conflict and show how the magic-wielding protagonist uses his/her power to affect its outcome. There are certain similarities in plot as well, e.g. witchery, small country fighting against military superpower, use of propaganda and tactical battles. However, Code Geass is much darker and more complex on many levels (mainly psychological).
Similarly structured political thrillers featuring powerful teenagers. Similar themes of war and deception. Both have fair amounts of of action, magic, and fanservice. Code Geass features slightly more pizza.
