Aside from very similar visuals and animation, both animes have the girls do most of the fighting and have a similar dynamic with the male MC. Also a lot of kissing.

Both have similar concepts: boy has to stop the destruction of his city by kissing a girl - whereas Date A Live to seal their power, Engage Kiss is to do the opposite. Both are fighting against supernatural forces and there's a taskforce dedicated to stopping them, which one of the main girls who is in love with the MC also happens to be a part of.
Engage Kiss is also illustrated by Tsunako: known for her work as the illustrator for the Date A Live light novels and anime. You can see and feel the familiarity of D.A.L within E.K's character designs and art

The MC's power in date a live is the opposite towards the MC in engage kiss. Shido (DAL MC) has to kiss a spirit in order to seal their powers, while we have our MC in engage kiss (Shuu) has to kiss Kisara in order to get her powers out. Both of the MCs are playboys, in which the girls love them very much.
