The concept of magic. The essence of power. The mystery of origins. Tokyo Ravens and Shounen Onmyouji produces similar themes in relation to one another.
In their perspective worlds, both series focuses on supernatural beings and powerful spells practiced through the art of Onmyoudo. The main characters are descendants from a line of powerful ancestry. Their origins holds mysteries as both series unravel their secrets. Settings does different in terms of time period. However, the atmosphere feels similar with a taste of Japanese mythological lore.
Tokyo Ravens and Shounen Onmyouji are both series that deal with practitioners of Onmyoudo (a type of magic in Japanese mythology). The main characters (Natsume and Harutora) in Tokyo Ravens are descendants of Abe no Seimei, while in Shounen Onmyouji, the main character is the grandson of Abe no Seimei. Also, the main characters in both of these shows have many traits in common like how Harutora is not able to see spirit energy and Masahiro who lost his ability to see spirits.
