A girl with a supernatural problem that causes her to lose all of her friends transfers into a new school.
A boy who is a bit of an idiot decides to make friends with her.
The girl feels she is a burden and denies him at first, but eventually warms up to the idea.
More friends join later on.
Both are heart-warming stories with cute art styles and cute relationships between the characters.
On the other hand, these slice-of-life/comedies also add quite a bit of drama and sadness that can move you to tears.

Both of these anime have the lead girl with something "different" about them, though Kotoura-san is supernatural. and they face a lot of internal struggling with it. Both female leads have problems making friends because of this. Both anime have a male lead that tries to help her with it. Isshuukan Friends takes itself more seriously than Kotoura-san.
