Atmosphere is pretty much the same, with a lot of mystery. In Death Note, the main character Light is able to see the shinigami, while in Shinrei Tantei Yakumo, the main character is able to see the souls of the dead. In both, the police is also involved.
Both characters are also accompanied by naive girls.

Both series feature detectives. They both have that level of mystery and it's a dark mystery. One is psychic and involved with ghosts while the other is involved in with a death god. Both are interesting to watch.

Mysteries and intelligence are deeply related and it's fun for us to watch the main heroine being puzzled in solving the cases. Both anime requires brainstorming to be comprehended for some viewers, while more experienced viewers may find it interesting to pay attention to the plot. Yakumo is shorter in term of episodes and provides lighter storyline but it's still enjoyable.
The both protagonists of each anime are intelligent guys who deal with superpowers in some way and have a silly girl behind them. The girls also follows them in their acts.
Same dark atmosphere.

Death and murders.
Death Note is Similar To Shinrei Tantei Yakumo because it has a male lead and has a girl that likes the guy. has a dark and mysterious genre, and they both are trying to solve something. For example in death note they are trying to solve who is kira and in yakumo they are trying to solve paranormal things.
