Descent. All is good until the two protagonists make their life-changing choices which ultimately leads them down a path of internal conflict flourishing into destruction.
Stories aren't the same with DN being a case of a prodigy making it his job to cleanse the world of its awful behaviour, School Days being a love story that has the MC fall into lust. Though both are still great original ideas that work well in presenting a dark scenario of two somewhat innocent people making very regrettable choices.
Both are great stories focusing on how consuming a love for something can lead to the greatest downfall of a man.

Both animes deal with a very well done psychological drama. In both series we have immoral protagonists who are corrupted by power (in death note, light is corrupted by the power to kill anyone in the world, as long as he knows his name and face, in school days, makoto is corrupted by the temptation to have multiple girls). Both series talk about how their protagonists can change the world around them (in death note, light changes the whole world, killing criminals, while on school days, makoto destroys the personality of their "girlfriends").
