It has great story, the art is lovely, its also unique, characters are great *but a few in kanon* , but it has great emotional stories. For all characters, and they are both not overly overrated. Unique characters and music.
There are also similar things in the story, like disappearing main girls. Secrets that you dont discover till the end. etc.

Romance, drama shows that have very emotional moments. Both shows have plot where flashbacks were visited and old secrets were uncovered.

I'll have to say, Anohana was the saddest anime to date that I have watched, and Kanon 2006 came close to it. In both anime I was crying giant man tears and they both left that void of a good anime after it was done. The only difference is that Kanon 2006 rushes so much sad feelings that near the end I kind of felt that there was no lower I could go, and I couldn't cry anymore, but nonetheless both are really masterful works of art and I recommend both for must watch if you are into anime.
A boy suffering from his past, is reunited with old friends, and together they try to give an end to that feeling.
