Very similar feeling in how story beats go, though the MC of Vanitas no Karte has a more negative personality than Allen of D.Gray-Man.

D.Gray-man and Vanitas no Karte are somewhat similar anime. Noé is kinda like Allen, and Naenia is similar to The Millennium Earl. The settings and art styles are similar as well. D.Gray-man is a little bit more action focused, however. I’ve made my case.

- Both set in 19th century alternate versions of European cities, in Vanitas it's Paris and in D.Gray-man it's London
- Both feature supernatural creatures that harm people, in Vanitas it's vampires and in D.Gray-man it's Akuma
- Both MCs 'cure' said supernatural beings, empathise with them, and have a special connection to them
- Both MCs use a special weapon, for Vanitas it's The Book of Vanitas and for Allen it's his Akuma arm
- Both are fast paced historical shounen with action, fantasy, and emotional backstories
