If you liked NANA for the realism, romance and soap opera drama, you will probably like Kimi ga Nozomu Eien too. The characters are also of similar ages. Although the stories are both extremely different.
While these two shows differ slightly in tone and plot, they both cover a unique period of life. Both are romantic dramas that begin with reflections on high school life but primarily focus on main characters in their early twenties. Nana follows two women as they navigate relationships of all kinds while Rumbling Hearts/Kimi ga Nozomu Eien is about a young man struggling with his romantic options and mental health.
The thing I loved about both shows was how real the characters and the choices they make are.
Definitely watch these if you want something so real it hurts. Because, believe me, both endings will leave you
