These anime share hospital setting as well as some plot devices. Also, they both are realistic dramas, nevertheless their themes are quite different.

Both series are tales of romance that takes tragedy and emotional turns and thus aimed more at mature audiences.
Both anime(s) also deals with the hospital that reflects on the tragedy some characters has been through. Thus, there are some psychological theme in both series.
But then, there are also comedy, drama, and of course romance. In the end, both these series shows realism and if you're looking for a serious anime, then both anime(s) might be right for you.
