While each show is quite different, having different settings and different character types, they both give off very similar feelings. The type of jokes and overall pace gives off a similar atmosphere that is different from this genre of slice of life, just a group of girls being cute that has been popular for a while now. If you liked one show, you should definitely check out the other.

Similar type of comedy where the chars just talks about random topics that usually leads to something random and crazy. Also both main chars tend to be the tsukkomi for the rest of the cast.
Mundane life and same feeling with the humor. There is no set plot for either show, and they are more episodic.
Group of girls telling hilarious jokes, playing ridiculous games and making cultural references.

Apart from being a slice of life with a cast of 5 girls and few supporting characters, they are similar in other ways:
- Both break the 4th wall numerous times and make self-referential jokes
- Both include a lot of talking and little action. Though there is still more sceneries in Joshiraku.
- Both involve several references to Japanese literature (Joshiraku also has a good number of references to Japanese politics)
