Both feature end of high school romance with a large cast of likable characters. Kids on the Slope is very rooted in it's time period, but both have a very similar feel. Kids on the Slope is a bit more "fun" and "upbeat" though, given the fact that jazz is a huge part of it. Good romance and coming of age stories that are easy to get invested in.
Both of these anime have an unbelievably large amount of similarities, I was very surprised this wasn't on the recommended list already so I went out of my way to make a myanimelist account to do so. I don't want to get too too much into detail but I will say both anime revolve around similar friendships, romance, conflicts, and of course it's a drama/romance/school anime as well.
I really can't prove how similar these are without spoiling it for a potential viewer so if you did like "Just Because!" or "Sakamichi no Apollon" please give this anime a chance! After watching both of these you
