Both have some historical value about Japanese myth, demograpghic, and similar ending.
Something that makes different is Hiro no Kakera's romance is going straight and foward, but Donten ni Warau have almost zero romance despite it's genre (shoujo). Then Hiiro no Kakera packed in reverse-harem trope (one girl is surrounded by many bishoujos) and Donten ni Warau is fly toward shounen tropes
