Both series share the same premise: a group of warriors have to protect a girl of divine nature. In Saint Seiya those warriors are called "saints", who figh according to the occidental constellations, as they serve the incarnation of the goddess Athena, Saori. In Fushigi Yuugi, they are called "seishis", fighting by the chinese constellations, in order to protect Miaka, god Suzaku's proxy.
While Saint Seiya focuses on the battles themselves, Fushigi Yuugi's attention is driven more to the characters drama. All have epic fights and memorable characters, who often have to fight another deities warriors. However, they may contain some disturbing scenes as well.
