Both shows have very similar atmosphere, because they're made by the same author, Honobu Yonezawa. If you like one of these and are into mystery and slice-of-life, you'll definitely enjoy the other one.

• It's quite hard to find a Mystery show similar to Hyouka specially cuz of its setting but the author's another work thankfully has an adaptation that's quite similar, that being Shoushimin! • Both shows follow similar High School setting where our characters get involved with Interesting Mysteries on a daily basis where Shoushimin is much more laid back & sort of not that complicated cuz the mysteries here are mostly related to day-to-day stuff compared to Hyouka's sort of Supernatural feel even tho there's nothing Otherworldly in it! • Hyouka is more episodic where the Main Protagonist mainly try to solve every case by himself   read more

Similarities: 1. Same author: Honobu Yonezawa 2. Mysteries around their everyday life 3. Heavy dialogue between two protagonists Differences: 1. Hyouka exaggerates scenes while Shoushimin doesn't. 2. For the female characters: Osanai is cunning and Chitanda is carefree and always curious. (You might have heard the phrase "Kininarimasu" or "I'm curious.") 3. Kobato and Osanai doesn't have any romantic feelings to each other and it was stated several times throughout the season, Chitanda and Oreki might have a few scenes but it's not official. These two anime have a similarity in several ways, in Hyouka we have a boy who doesn't want to solve mysteries because he's lazy, in the other we have a boy who doesn't want to solve mysteries because he doesn't want to be unbearable anymore, but both find themselves solving mysteries
