Both have a similar fashion of a lead male character with a rather dreary, boring life...spiced up by meeting a girl with an upbeat personality that helps change their world views.
It also appears the romantic sub-plots are going to work in a similar fashion as well.

Just Like Hyouka, Your Lie in April has breathtaking animation, a memorable set of characters as well as a well-balanced mixture of romance and comedy.
Both deliver a memorable experience.
Both have a similar cast, with a black-haired mc who doesn't care about his life, a girl who reintroduces him to life, a brown-haired girl who has unrequited feelings for one of the characters, and a brown-haired bestie who pushes the mc to embrace his life.
They also have beautiful animation and interesting side characters.
I prefer Hyouka over Your Lie in April because of the character development.
