While Kimi Ni Todoke is more "slice of life" and less fantasy than Fruits Basket, they have a similar feel. The protagonist is a girl who is very sweet, and her kindness (or some might say naivety) touches the hearts of the people around her. Furuba is a little bit sillier; KimiTo toes the line on being a bit too saccharine. Tohru and Sadako both have two good girlfriends who are somewhat of social outcasts; Arisa and Chizu are VERY similar characters. Both series have a pretty soft color palette, although personally I think the art in KimiTo is a bit better. If you   read more

both Sawako from KimiTo and Toru from Fruba are oblivious, sweet and try to put others before themselves. They both have 2 close friends who are delinquentish. Both illicit an adorable warm feeling and both have some degree of sorrow. Both experience some degree of bullying from the popular girls that like the main guy character. KimiTo is a romance and sweet. Fruba has more comedy. Ohter than that Kimiko's Sawako's main problem is that she looks like Sadako from "the ring" But she comes from an intact family. Toru's family is dead and the anime has more of a focus on family relationships. Also   read more

For anyone who loved the slice-of-life sweetness to be found in Fruits Basket, Kimi ni Todoke is definitely a must-watch. Both series spotlight the necessity for companionship, kindness, and empathy as well as showcasing strong friendships and slow-building romantic relationships. Hopefully, Sawako will draw you into her world and experiences just as Tohru did for you in Fruits Basket.

Both feature a shy and somewhat ostracised girl with pure hearts and two badass best friends, as well as a sweet side romance. Kimi Ni Todoke focuses more on character development and growth to FruBa's more intricate plot however.

Both the anime series revolve around the life of a single girl who had to go through a lot of social and emotional issues everywhere and had to struggle through their lives when they come across one certain situation where she feels to be like the luckiest person in the world because of one or a few handful of people who make her feel special and important. Kimi Ni Todoke is more of a Slice of Life excluding all sorts of Fantasy Content portrayed in Fruits Basket but in the end, both make two different series worth watch. :-)
